Peter Jablonski
Pianist
Peter Jablonski, described by Gramophone as “a pianist in the full maturity of his imaginative artistry”, is an award-winning Swedish pianist. He is the recipient of the prestigious 2025 Swedish Grammy Award for his acclaimed recording of the piano works of Ronald Stevenson, released by the Ondine label.
Discovered by Claudio Abbado and Vladimir Ashkenazy and signed by Decca at the age of seventeen, he has since collaborated with some of the world’s leading orchestras and conductors, including the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Orchestre National de France, Philharmonia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo, Filarmonica della Scala, Tonhalle Zürich, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, among many others, as well as conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Myung-Whun Chung.
He has toured internationally with orchestras such as the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, and Orchestre National de France.
He has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including London’s Royal Festival Hall and Barbican Centre, the Berlin Philharmonie, Tokyo’s Suntory Hall, the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
Throughout his career, he has performed and recorded the complete piano concertos of Ludwig van Beethoven, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Béla Bartók, and others, as well as the complete mazurkas of Frédéric Chopin and Alexander Scriabin and the piano sonatas of Sergei Prokofiev. His repertoire also includes works by composers such as George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, and Karol Szymanowski.
He has collaborated with composers such as Witold Lutosławski and Arvo Pärt, and numerous works have been written for and dedicated to him, including Wojciech Kilar’s Piano Concerto, whose world premiere at the Warsaw Autumn Festival earned him the Orpheus Award.
His extensive discography includes recordings for Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, Philips, Altara, Octavia, and Ondine. He has received numerous awards, including the Swedish Grammy, the Edison Award for Best Concert Recording (featuring works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff, and Lutosławski), and the Gramophone Classical Music Award for a Deutsche Grammophon recording dedicated to Cécile Chaminade with Anne Sofie von Otter.
Jablonski was awarded the Litteris et Artibus medal by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden for his contribution to culture and was named “Årets Svensk i Världen” (Swede of the Year Abroad). In 2022 he was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
Also in 2022, he became a global ambassador for the music of Karol Szymanowski, as part of a long-term project including worldwide performances and a series of short films dedicated to the composer.
In December 2022 he received the prestigious Académie Charles Cros award for contemporary music for his recording of Grażyna Bacewicz’s piano works.
In March 2025 he won the Swedish Grammy for his recording of Ronald Stevenson’s piano works. In November 2025 he began recording the complete piano works of Szymanowski, scheduled for release between 2026 and 2028.
Highlights of the 2025/26 season include recital tours in Japan and Korea, the Polish premiere of André Tchaikowsky’s Piano Concerto with NOSPR and conductor Łukasz Borowicz, the world premiere of a new piano concerto by Victoria Borisova-Ollas, and further concerts and recitals across Europe and worldwide.
In the 2026/27 season, Jablonski will appear with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Jukka-Pekka Saraste, the Kanazawa Chamber Orchestra, and the Warsaw National Philharmonic, alongside recital tours in Japan, Sweden, Poland, and Italy, continuing his major recording project dedicated to Szymanowski.
