Marzouk Mejri
Marzouk Mejri was born in Tebourba, Tunisia, and has lived in Italy, in Naples, for over thirty years. A singer and multi-instrumentalist, he has collaborated with numerous Neapolitan musicians, including Daniele Sepe, James Senese, Peppe Barra, Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare, 99 Posse, Eduardo De Crescenzo, Peppino Di Capri, and Enzo Avitabile.
In 2008 he founded the “Marzouk-Ensemble,” with which he debuted as a solo artist releasing the album Genina. In 2017, RAI produced a documentary film about his musical art entitled Vita di Marzouk. In 2019 he won the Premio Parodi with his trio “Fanfara Station.”
Salvatore Morra
Salvatore Morra was born in Naples. A guitarist and ethnomusicologist, he has recorded L’alba for Adoro Records and Luys Milan for Draft Records.
He graduated in Arab-Islamic Studies and completed a PhD (2018) at Royal Holloway, University of London. His research explores the music of the Arab-Islamic world and its intersections with contemporary soundscapes.
He studied the oud in Tunisia with Kamel Gharbi and Selmi Mongi.
