Bepi Garsia

Pianist

Bepi Garcia (20.07.1969) is a pianist specialized in both classical (Western art music) and Afro-American repertoire. He began his piano studies with Maestro Vincenzo Mannino and later continued them in Naples with Maestro Massimo Bertucci (Vincenzo Vitale school).

He graduated with top marks and honors from the “Alessandro Scarlatti” Conservatory of Palermo, under the guidance of Maestro Antonio Sottile. He further refined his musical training by attending several advanced courses in Italy, Germany, and France with Vera Gornostaeva, and in Greece with Konstantin Ganev. He later moved to Moscow, where he continued his advanced studies under Gornostaeva (teacher, among others, of Ivo Pogorelich).

Winner of numerous national and international competitions, Garsia has developed an intense concert career that has taken him not only across Italy but also to various European capitals. In Russia, he performed in Moscow at St. Barbara Cathedral, in St. Petersburg at the Pushkin House Museum, in Tver at the renowned concert hall, in Klin at the Tchaikovsky House Museum, and also in Tambov and Dubna. He has also performed in Brussels at the Italian Cultural Institute, in Amersfoort (Netherlands), and in Saransk (Mordovia).

In Sicily, Garsia has collaborated with major concert institutions, including the Teatro Massimo, the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra, The Brass Group, and the Friends of Music association.

Among his repertoire, special attention has been given to Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, Op. 37, performed with the Sicilian Academy Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Gaetano Colajanni.

In 2010, in Palermo at the Giardini Sopra le Mura dello Spasimo, he gave the world premiere of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue in a version that, while preserving the original piano part, featured a newly commissioned orchestration for the Sicilian Jazz Orchestra.

In 2021, following the success of a performance of a work traditionally played by symphonic orchestras, Garsia gave the world premiere at the Real Teatro di Santa Cecilia—again with the Sicilian Jazz Orchestra—of George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F. Both works were recorded for Abeat Records (Varese).
