Sol Chin is an emerging South Korean conductor gaining recognition as one of the most prominent young Asian conductors, noted for her versatile and energetic performances across international stages.

Born in Seoul, she was introduced early to music through piano, composition, and vocal training with her parents, both music professors. She studied orchestral conducting at the Korea National University of Arts and later at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts in Germany.

After completing her studies, she began conducting orchestras such as the Philharmonie Baden-Baden, Kammerorchester Heilbronn, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, and the Plovdiv State Opera Orchestra in Bulgaria. In Korea, she has conducted leading ensembles including the KBS Symphony Orchestra, Korean National Symphony Orchestra, National Orchestra of Korea, Gyeonggi Philharmonic, Bucheon Philharmonic, Daejeon Philharmonic, Pohang Philharmonic, and Jeonju Philharmonic.

In 2019, she was invited twice by the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra in Turkey, where her concerts were sold out and praised by local media as “an unforgettable festival of sound.” She received a formal letter of appreciation from the city’s mayor.

A strong advocate of contemporary music, she has been invited to major festivals such as the ARKO Korean Contemporary Music Festival, Daegu International Contemporary Music Festival, ACC International Composition Competition, and Korean Chamber Music Composition Festival.

She is also the CEO and artistic director of “FLASIC,” a startup specializing in orchestral game music production. Through FLASIC, she collaborates with major global game companies including Blizzard Entertainment, NCSoft, Nexon, Kakao Games, Gravity, and Pokémon Korea, expanding orchestral music into new media and performance formats. She has also been active in campaigns promoting copyright awareness and intellectual property protection in the arts.

Her media appearances include “CBS Sebasi,” “EBS Documentary Prime,” and an IBK Industrial Bank television campaign.

Since 2016, she has led the “Mahler Project,” dedicated to performing all symphonies of Gustav Mahler. She currently serves as principal conductor of the Daegu International Symphony Orchestra, conductor of the KNIGA (Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts) orchestra, and artistic director of the Artisee Orchestra.
