Joseph-Maurice Weder
Described by renowned cellist Gautier Capuçon as “a marvelous musician with an extraordinarily brilliant technique,” Swiss pianist Joseph-Maurice Weder launched his international career by winning the Swiss Ambassador’s Award in London and making his Wigmore Hall debut in 2013.
Since then, he has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Vienna Musikverein, the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, the Wigmore Hall in London, the Tonhalle in Zurich, and the Vienna Konzerthaus, with tours throughout Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa.
As a soloist, he has collaborated with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the Kazakhstan Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, the Sinfonieorchester Basel, the Orquestra Sinfônica do Teatro Nacional de Brasilia, the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, and the Chamber Orchestra of the City of Bratislava.
A passionate chamber musician, he has performed with artists such as Gautier Capuçon, Kian Soltani, Marc Bouchkov, and Nelson Goerner, alongside members of prestigious orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Munich Philharmonic, and the Staatskapelle Berlin.
His discography includes acclaimed recordings for OehmsClassics, MDG, and ARS Produktion, featuring works by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, and Liszt. In addition to his concert career, Weder is deeply committed to teaching. Since 2017, he has been a member of the piano faculty at the Collegio di Aarau (Switzerland) and has been invited as a guest professor to give masterclasses at internationally renowned institutions, including Singapore, Bucharest, Lima, São Paulo, and Caracas (El Sistema).
