A partnership that fosters cultural growth
Music as a universal language, historical heritage as an exceptional stage, and the university as a meeting place for knowledge, art and community. It is on these values that the collaboration between Palermo Classica and the University of Palermo is built – a partnership that, over the years, has become a benchmark for cultural promotion in the region.
For the 16th edition of the Palermo Classica International Festival, the University is once again lending its support to the initiative, reaffirming its commitment to the promotion of musical culture. This collaboration transforms some of the city’s most iconic venues – such as the Steri Monumental Complex and the Botanical Gardens – into unique settings where music, history and architecture come together in perfect harmony.
A festival that looks to the future
The 2026 edition features over 30 concerts spread across July and September, with more than 60 artists from all over the world. The programme spans a range of genres and styles: from the great symphonic tradition to jazz, from symphonic rock to film scores, right through to chamber music and opera, offering a cultural experience that appeals to audiences of all ages.
The collaboration with the University is much more than a simple sponsorship: it is a shared project that showcases the University’s architectural heritage, encourages participation from the university community and strengthens the bond between cultural institutions and the local area. The Steri, home to the Rector’s Office, and the Botanical Gardens thus become vibrant venues, open to the city and at the heart of a musical season of international scope.
Culture, the local area and the community
The synergy between Palermo Classica and UniPa demonstrates how collaboration between institutions can generate value for the whole community. The festival is not merely a series of concerts, but an opportunity to experience the city’s historical heritage through music, fostering encounters between students, local residents, visitors and international artists.
In this way, the University reaffirms its leading role in promoting culture, whilst Palermo Classica continues to stand out as one of the most important musical events on the Italian scene.
