Fernando Mangifesta
Accordionist
Born in 1990, he began studying the accordion under the guidance of Maestro Dario Flammini at the “A. Casella” Conservatory in L’Aquila, where he obtained his second-level Academic Diploma in Musical Disciplines (interpretative-compositional specialization in Accordion) with top marks and honors.
He soon began an intense concert activity as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles. In the following years, he distinguished himself in several national and international competitions. He has performed in important festivals and concert seasons such as the 30th International “Mezza Estate” Festival in Tagliacozzo, the 1st Arts Festival “Tivoli Chiama” (2015), the 70th concert season of the Barattelli Concert Society in L’Aquila, and the “Vivaio Talenti” series held at the Italian Pavilion during Expo Milano 2015.
He has also performed for institutions such as the Sicilian Association Friends of Music, Gioventù Musicale d’Italia, Filarmonica Umbra, the “Anton Stadler” Association, Unione Musicale, and Palermo Classica. He has performed internationally in countries including Greece, Denmark, Lithuania, and Switzerland. He took part in the International Accordion Festival 2015 in Vilnius and performed at the concert marking the 20th anniversary of Mogens Ellegaard’s death at the “Ny Sal” of the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
He was the founder of the “Duo Solotarev” and later the “Trio Solotarev” in 2013. Together with Mauro Schembri and Francesca Adamo Sollima, he founded the “Trio Quiros,” and with pianist Giulio Potenza, the “Duo Zero Hour,” chamber ensembles with which he carries out an intense artistic activity. He has performed world premieres of works by Fabio Massimo Capogrosso, Luciano Bellini, and Ilkay Bora Öder.
He has attended advanced courses with Friedrich Lips, Viatcheslav Semionov, Yuri Shishkin, Vojin Vasovic, Alexander Selivanov, and Ángel Luis Castaño. He also studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen under Maestro Geir Draugsvoll.
He began studying the bisonoric bandoneon with Maestro Dario Flammini. Under the guidance of Maestro Gianni Iorio, he completed the two-year specialization in interpretation and stylistic practice of Tango at the “L. D’Annunzio” Conservatory in Pescara, and obtained a first-level Academic Diploma in Traditional Music (Bandoneon specialization) with top marks and honors at the “A. Casella” Conservatory.
His revision of the scores of “Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas” by Astor Piazzolla was published by the prestigious German publisher Tonos Music Publishing and has been considered a work of exemplary importance for the entire oeuvre of Piazzolla, both from a performance and pedagogical perspective.
He further refined his bandoneon studies with Maestro Juan José Mosalini.
