Pianist
Giulio Potenza (born 1990) began playing the piano at the age of six and has since established himself as a respected concert pianist, actively performing and teaching.
He has been invited to perform at prestigious festivals and venues worldwide, including the Martha Argerich Project in Lugano, the Bangkok International Piano Festival, the Duettissimo Festival in Krakow, the Palermo Classica International Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Hammamet International Piano Festival in Tunisia, the Quirinale Concerts (RAI Radio 3), the Hammerklavier International Piano Series in Barcelona, the Grieg in Bergen International Music Festival, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, the Classix Festival in Iași (Romania), the Oviedo Philharmonic, St John’s Smith Square in London, the Ruth Lilly Concert Hall in Indianapolis, Munetsugu Hall and Asake Plaza in Japan, Teatro Politeama and Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Sala dei Giganti in Padua, Grieg Hall in Bergen, the Ancient Theatre of Taormina, Aula Seriene in Oslo, Auditorium Bernanos in Paris, and Theater aan de Parade in ’s-Hertogenbosch.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Florence Symphony Orchestra, the Palermo Classica Festival Orchestra, the University of London Symphony Orchestra, the Exeter Symphony Orchestra, the Italian Symphony Orchestra, the North Beds Orchestra, and the Orchestra del Luglio Musicale Trapanese, under the baton of conductors such as Piero Bellugi, Jan Kaznowski, Marek Wroniszewski, Daniel Capp, Arturo Serna, and Alberto Maniaci.
He has collaborated with many renowned artists including Anton Niculescu, Silvia Mazzon, Désirée Rancatore, Alessandro Cirrito, Oda Voltersvik, José Menor, Andrea Bacchetti, Vincenzo Balzani, Antonello Farulli, Daniel Rivera, Gabriele Baldocci, Stefano Farulli, and Nicolas Dupont.
His recitals and recordings have been broadcast by BBC Radio 3, Rai Radio 3, Swiss Classical Radio, Radio Musiq 3, Radio Klara, Vatican Radio, and Italian National Television (RAI). He has recorded CDs for the labels Da Vinci Classics, Velut Luna, and BAM International.
He has won prizes in several important piano competitions, including the Hanna Brooke Piano Prize for excellence in concert performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire; second prize at the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition in New York (2016); and the “Highly Commended Award” at the Jacques Samuel Piano Competition in London (2012).
He is currently a professor of piano at the “Alessandro Scarlatti” Conservatory of Music in Palermo (Italy) and Artistic Director of the Suoni Panteschi Chamber Music Festival in Pantelleria. He regularly gives masterclasses in the United Kingdom and abroad (Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, Krakow Academy of Music, George Enescu University of Arts in Iași, Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania, Assumption University in Bangkok, etc.).
Giulio Potenza holds a Master’s degree, a Postgraduate Artist Diploma, and an ISP Advanced Diploma from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, all with distinction. He was selected to be part of the renowned International Piano Foundation Theo and Petra Lieven in Hamburg.
In addition, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Palermo and completed his musical studies at the Conservatory of Trapani (Italy).
