Luigi Giachino

Pianist

Luigi Giachino graduated in Piano and Composition with top honors from the Conservatory of Turin, studying with M. Gachet and G. Bosco. He continued his training with Vincenzo Vitale and Giorgio Ferrari. He also obtained a CEE specialization certificate in composition, arranging, and conducting of non-classical music.

His chamber, symphonic, and operatic works are regularly performed in concerts and recordings. He was a Bogliasco Foundation fellow for the composition of the melodrama La casa del nonno (Sonzogno).

Among his awards, in 1993 he won a scholarship from the Italian SIAE General Directorate to study with Carlo Savina, later becoming his assistant in several institutions, including the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, the Conservatory of Genoa, and Alassio Laboratorio Musica.

He is the author of ballets, stage music, and film scores for various institutions, including Rai Due, Torino Spettacoli, the Italian Ministry of the Environment / European Commission DG XI / LIPU, the City of Turin, Giugiaro Design, Rai Tre, the University of Turin, the Regional Dance Academy of Turin, International Help, and the Foreign Trade Centre of the Piedmont Chambers of Commerce.

Frequently active as a performer, lecturer, masterclass instructor, and competition jury member, from 2004 to 2007 he taught at the Universities of Turin and Genoa and served as music director of the university television channel Extracampus.

He has carried out musical activities in France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Monaco, Syria, Slovenia, Romania, Switzerland, Belgium, and Japan. Since 1986 he has been involved in cultural organization for various institutions, associations, and public administrations.

From 2004 to 2010, he was a board member and later president of the public institution Moncalieri Musica Teatro.

Since 1990 he has been Professor of Composition at the Conservatory of Genoa, where he also serves as department coordinator and academic council member.

His works are published by Curci, Nuova Fonit-Cetra, Warner, Casa Sonzogno, Esagono, Carocci, Gremese, Kaplan, Il Foglio Letterario, Chiaramonte, TGE, Gioiosa, Gli Archivi del ’900, Cartman, RTI Music Division, and Zedde.
