Mauro Greco

Cellist

He graduated in cello under Maestro Nagy Géza in 1996 from the “A. Corelli” Conservatory of Music in Messina, graduating with distinction.

He attended masterclasses with some of the most important international cellists, including Rohan de Saram (Arditti Quartet), Csaba Onczay (at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague), Lluis Claret (Academia del Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona, Spain), and Jennifer Landgridge (at the Cambridge & Wingfield Summer Music in London).

In 1998 he moved to Milan, where he regularly collaborated with the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala.

At the end of 1999 he moved to London, where he attended advanced masterclasses with Maestros Moray Welsh (principal cello of the London Symphony Orchestra), Rohan de Saram (Arditti Quartet), Paul Watkins (principal cello of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and soloist of the Nash Ensemble), as well as a chamber music course held by Maestro Mats Lindström at Trinity Music College.

He has held the position of principal cello at the Ente Regionale Teatro di Messina, the Filarmonica Salernitana Orchestra (Teatro G. Verdi), the Malta National Orchestra, the Orchestra di Roma e del Lazio, the Orchestra Ravello Città della Musica, and the Orchestra MusicaRivafestival.

As section cellist, he has collaborated with the London Symphony Orchestra (work experience), the RAI National Symphony Orchestra of Turin, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Orchestra, the Southend Philharmonic Orchestra, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma Foundation, the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari Foundation, the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini Orchestra, the Teatro Massimo Foundation of Palermo, the Teatro Regio of Parma, the Teatro Petruzzelli Foundation and theaters of Bari, the Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, the Sinfonietta of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, the Orchestra Internazionale d’Italia, the Orchestra Sinfonica del Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the Filarmonica della Calabria, the Orchestra Jazz Siciliana, and others.

He also held the position of “Ayuda solista de violonchelo” (second cello with obligation to play first chair) at the Orquesta de Córdoba (Spain) for the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons.
