From Baroque to Contemporary
Scarlatti, Samama e Rameau
The program offers a bold comparison between distant eras: Domenico Scarlatti’s sonatas and Jean-Philippe Rameau’s timbral frescoes dialogue with the modern and personal language of Leo Samama, a Dutch composer and musicologist born in 1951.
Samama combines rigor and invention; his music reflects a profound academic education, informed by contemporary sensibilities, and highlights how a modern gesture can be mirrored in classical models.
In this concert, ancient and new worlds meet not to oppose each other, but to engage in conversation, to discover hidden affinities, contrasts born of sound, and the continuity of a musical impulse that spans the centuries.
